Derran Eaddy, M.A., is an award-winning strategic consultant with experience supporting White House, Dept. of Defense (DoD), Veterans Affairs (VA), and other initiatives. He is a former New Mexico Commissioner on Higher Education appointed by then Governor Bruce King and a U.S. Senate Fellow who applies his Master of Arts degree to meet real-world needs.
He serves as a Smithsonian Ambassador and Charter Member at the National Museum of African American History and Culture, was a Kennedy Center artist, and organized professional networking events for the World Bank/International Monetary Fund.
Projects he supported earned awards from the Harvard Kennedy School of Government, the Public Relations Society of America, and the National School Public Relations Association.
As a Federal consultant, Derran successfully supported key White House initiatives, which provided critical healthcare services to our nation's Veterans. With more than 20 million beneficiaries in the Military Health System and Veterans Health Administration, he led communications initiatives for two of the world’s largest healthcare providers. He has extensive communications management experience in the national defense , technology, and aerospace sectors, having generated millions of impressions through the full range of outreach strategies, from social media, web management, and email distributions, to press relations and meeting facilitation.
Prior to serving Federal government clients, Derran worked in the education field leading press and media outreach with news outlets, radio stations, and television networks.
He holds a Master of Arts degree in Mass Communications and a Bachelor of Science degree in Public Relations both from Eastern New Mexico University (ENMU), where he was twice elected Student Government President. Derran graduated with the ENMU Award of Excellence, and the Outstanding Public Relations Student of the Year Award.
Derran is an NCAA football Conference Champion and a recipient of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon National Besser Lindsey Award. He served as a brand ambassador for Element Skateboards and conducted site visits to all seven continents.
